Here's...Johnny!

Okay so we have clue yet if this is a little Johnny or Janie but either way, Billy coined the term for the "B" Baby when we found out it was the size of an appleseed (about 3 weeks ago).

We had an interesting time at the doctor :) It wasn't too bad though (thanks for all the warnings girls). We found out my uterus is tilted back, which they claim is pretty common and will work it's way back forward again during the next few months, and based on the ultrasound we could have a due date of March 4th (we estimated the 5th so we were pretty close).

Other than that, all is well! 2 arm buds, 2 leg buds and a beating heart! 188 bpm! It sounded like a rap song :) Billy had fun carrying the picture around and showing all the nurses. When the dr. came in she said "so your chart says you are catholic and were practicing natural family planning?" I said "nope, we're not catholic and weren't planning anything" :)

It was fun!

Tumm ta tum tumm

TUMS!!!

Are my new best friend :) I feel like the abominable snow man meeting Daffy Duck for the first time- "I Will Name Him George, and I Will Hug Him, and Pet Him, and Squeeze Him."....
Tums a.ka. "George" are my lifesavers-I carry them with me to work, I carry them to the kitchen table, I carry them to my bed, I carry them to the car....I carry them with me wherever I go! Oh and those flavors. I can't get enough of the red ones-they're like candy! Okay, so I'm not that bad, but they have given me a better day overall lately. I was fighting puking the whole drive home wednesday, and it was due to the acid reflux that had been choking me all day. Needless to say, my husband was my hero as he scavenged to find the Tums. Yeehaw.

Other than that, I've been sleeping like a baby-lol-or not so much like a baby as a baby DOESN'T SLEEP! I've wanted nothing more than a drooling nap/crash as soon as I walk in the door. My poor husband has been making himself dinner or taking me out for nearly every night for the past 2 weeks. He's a great sport, bringing me toast or saltines in the morning (those are life savers too!) and a swig of caffeine free coke to ease the acidic stomach pains.

I've been feeling nauseaus off and on, but for the most part, it's been controllable. I chew gum and try to always snack or drink something at all times. Coke and sprite and some fruit teas have helped quite a bit.

As far as food aversions, I think mine are attributed more to the actual preparation of food, not to the food itself.

For instance: I bought an array of groceries to make some really tasty chimichangas and chalupas with rice and beans. Okay, so that entire day at work I kept gagging every time I thought about that RAW BLOODY FAJITA MEAT in my fridge!! I called Billy and told him if he wanted the meat on his, he would have to make it before I got home and then air out the house. Then...I told him I COULD NOT deep fry the burritos, I just couldn't even think about hot oil! Which then put a kink in my plans for homemade refried beans. I asked Billy "can't I just take the pinto beans and use those instead?" he said "but that wouldn't be refried"....so I told him "I can't even think about popping hot oil all over me! Oh and that ungodly smell! Bleh, baby, I can't talk about this I'm gonna throw up". So he asked "what about lard? can you use lard instead of oil?" I go "hmmm, I think I can handle lard. Yeah lard may be okay, it doesn't make me gag".

We went out for dinner :)

So sleepy, nauseaus, and heartburn! Those are my themes for the past 8 weeks! Oh and OBLIVIOUS! I've lost my head for real! I can't remember names, or vocabulary words to save my life. This baby's taking all my smarts for sure. But's it's all good! Maybe he/she will be a genius and pay for our retirement someday!

We get to go see the doctor for the first time Monday! They will do a sonogram so we'll try to get that up here asap!

Thank you all for your love and help during this fun new season in our life. I guess you really do have no idea what's it's like until you've gone through it.

A Cousin is Born!

We spent our 3 month Anniversary in San Antonio visiting our cousins Melissa and Michael and their new beautiful baby boy Jeremiah! It was great to have a part in such a special time of their life. He was so much fun, and it's amazing how much he changed in just a few days of being there! We're so happy for them, and now Jeremiah will have a close cousin to play with forever!

Mama or Auntie? Take your pick

I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS BEFORE: THE MORNING I TOOK THE 1ST TEST, I LAID IT UP ON THE BATHROOM COUNTER AND PROCEEDED TO GET READY FOR WORK. WHILE BRUSHING MY TEETH, I CALLED OUT TO BILLY "I'M NOT GONNA' LOOK AT THIS UNTIL YOU DO" SO HE ROLLED OUT OF BED, RUBBED HIS EYES AND SLOWLY MADE IT IN TO THE BATHROOM. ALL OF A SUDDEN, HE YELLED OUT "WHOA!!" AND I ASKED, "WHAT??!" AND HE GOES "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!"
THEN HE POINTED TO THE TEST BELOW :) SO FUN.
So we've officially hit our 3 month mark in marriage, and we've made some BIG CHANGES!
We've been holding off on posting anything until we knew for sure...but after a few VERY positive pregnancy tests, and some other key symptoms, the word is finally out! Looks like we gave ourselves a 2 month anniversary present! We're looking at a due date around March 5th.
This was me at 4 weeks, when we found out :)
For the most part NOBODY IS SURPRISED!Those who know us well, know we desire a large family and thank God for giving us this little blessing already!

MORE BIG CHANGES: Brian and Lin called us from Africa yesterday and they are only 13 days behind us! My poor mom said she deserves a medal for this year! She gained 1 son, 2 daughters, and 2 grandbabies!

We extended our lease on our townhome so Billy won't have to move with a 7 month prego wife, and I think we've decided to set up a nursery in our bedroom's alcove. Billy's officing out of the 2nd bedroom and it's housing a queen size guest bed. Not much room for baby furniture.
I've been trying to read up as much as I have time for, you know the
"What to expect" books, and the "Your pregnancy week by week" books....and Billy seems to be as thrilled as I am about looking at strollers, and playyards and gadgets for the new "B" fam member :) <<------- Speaking of Billy, he's been doing some reading too!

I asked my 5 year old cousin David what we should name the baby....and he said "If it's a girl, you could call her 'Precious', and if it's a boy... 'Matthew's' a good name" :)

The Year of Weddings

CONGRATS!!!!
...to my big bro Brian and his new wife Lindsey! We celebrated their wedding day on Memorial Day, and then they were whisked off to Jinja, Uganda (Africa)! They are there to minister to the locals, the missionaries, and the 60 orphans or so in our cousin Danyne and her husband Surj's babies home, Amani Baby Cottage. Brian is also helping run a guesthouse kitchen, and Lin opened a new hair salon! and in other news.....

MORE CONGRATS!!!
...my little bro Aaron has officially invited his girlfriend Rachel to be in the family! He planned a really fun and surprising proposal during this photoshoot below. She had no clue! We are thrilled and look forward to their November wedding.

It's a blessing that these new sisters already felt like family to us! We love them both and look forward to sharing many family/life celebrations with them in the future. Good job bro's...good job. May God be glorified for the many blessings He has given us all!

It's so amazing we all 3 share the same year for our weddings! We joked about it the other day that we'll all have the same anniversary landmarks (all 15th, 16th the same year, etc) and Billy remarked "Yeah our 50th will be a huge blowout!". Then we all realized Brian would be 80 years old!!! So he retracted his former statement and said, "Okay, so our 25th will be a huge blowout".
