"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
2 Corinthians 5:17
We received an email this morning that our dear friend passed away after a rollercoaster battle with cancer. Our hearts ached for the families' loss. Immediately, we began to pray for their minds to be at peace, for grieving to come, and for comfort and love to overflow in their grieving.
I questioned why God would allow such a struggle like this one to come to an end? Especially when there had been some very high peaks of hope, and victories, in his valley called cancer.
God quickly reminded me that he ultimately had been healed of this terrible disease. His healing came in a different form than we had hoped, or expected. His healing was eternal.
We left our bedroom, and to our surprise, the caterpillar we had caught on Saturday in our bug catcher had fully cacooned himself in the night. What a symbolic moment that was. This creepy crawler was about to be made new, into a beautiful winged creature.
God revealed his truth in nature. In our decaying bodies' death, GOD GIVES US A NEW BODY. When we are in Christ, our lives are transformed and our bodies are perfected when we go to be with Him.
We will miss our friend dearly.
For him, the new has come.
